Olympus μ780

7_2 PIE, Photo Imagine Expo, is going to take place in Japan. Everyone wants to make it big at this high profile event. Olympus is also here and I suppose they have already shown their mettle. They have presented their μ780, an all-weather contemporary camera incorporating a 7.1Mpix sensor, support for video in VGA at 30fps, ISA1600 , a 5x optical zoom, 15MB of internal memory and a 2.5” TFT screen for that super quality viewing angles. They have made it their “Limited Edition” product by adding an extra 512MB XD card slot to it.

Leica Reload

6_2 I already told you about the over priced Leica M8 digicams. Well, the company has now released a firmware update, which they claim to solve the problem of M8’s high sensitivity to infrared light. Initially, Leica offered UV/IR filter for all lenses to sort out the problem but that led to the tribulations with the color cast of wide-angle lenses from 16-35mm. The new firmware upgrade is claimed to address this  problem.

Casio EXILIM

4_2 Casio has launched a new Waterproof Digital Camera that will enable you to shoot pictures underwater. The gear is compatible with Casio Exilim EX-Z65 and EX-Z75. It is not ment to be for divers as the device remains waterproof till the depth of 10 feet. On the plus side the gear also protects your camera from sand so you can also use it on the beach! No word yet on the price and availability of this device.

NEC Camera Module HX0830M1

3_2 NEC camera module HX0830M1 has the power of capturing the black-body radiation which inturn bestows the best sharpness to a picture and that too with a black and white picture tube. This module also boasts of a simple and an uncomplicated installation. The camera can be connected to a GX1 GPS receiver and then the screen can be used to view all the maps that you receive from a dozen channels within five seconds.

Panasonic HDC-SC3 and HDC-DX3 High-definition Camcorders

1_2 Panasonic introducing its HDC-SC3 and HDC-DX3. Both the SD3 and DX3 fully support H.264 and will capture video at resolutions up to 1,920 by 1,080 pixels, an increase over the 1,440 by 1,080 resolution offered by the earlier models.  Both these models have an improved video compression as 4 GB SD card can hold about 40 minutes of high-resolution video, while an 8 CM DVD can hold 14 minutes of high-def video per side. Apart from these features, these models got the same specs as the previous models.

Samsung Flaunts 7.2MP Wide Angle Camera

3_3Samsung Electronics has released a 7.2MP 28mm wide-angle camera. Dubbed ‘VLUU L74 Wide’ is a host to some impressive features such as a 3-inch Touchscreen LCD. The camera has a 28mm wide-angle lens with 3.6x optical zoom, Flash animation GUI, high sensitivity ISO 1600 support, face recognition AF and AE, world tour guide function and advanced shake reduction.

Sanyo reveals ‘Xacti E7’ Digital Camera

2_2After launching a weatherproof camera , Sanyo has now released a more conventional digital camera. The camera dubbed ‘Xacti E7 boasts of 7.1MP sensor with 3X optical zoom.Customers will also be allowed to shoot video clips in VGA size. The device has 23MB internal memory and support for SD cards to enhance the storage capacity if required.
